Twitter show Promoted Accounts in Search Results, build loyal fanbase for businesses

Twitter has made an announcement that it will begin to show Promoted accounts in the search results.

In a company blog post, Twitter said, “We automatically select relevant search queries for presenting Promoted Accounts based on an advertiser’s targeting choices, so no additional action is required for your business to access this capability.”

For those who don’t know what a Promoted Account is, it is an account that businesses use so as to promote their products or services to users. This is done so as to gain more followers.

A promoted Tweet or Trend is no different except for the fact that these two aspects generate very little revenue compared to those by Promoted Accounts.

For most users, this change will not affect them greatly as Promoted Tweets are already appearing in Search. All this means is that the search results will include just another type of ad unit, which was already being shown on Twitter users’ timelines.

Yet despite the decline experienced by Twitter in terms of growth and timeline views, the company says that its views have become far more valuable. In that sense, this move will monetize Twitter searches as well as build a loyal fanbase for these businesses.

Also, the company plans to focus on user growth and has also mentioned on its blog that the reason for this move is because studies reveal that 72% of users who engage with a particular brand or business on Twitter tend to make purchases much more.
