Microsoft gives Web Office Apps an overhaul, design changes similar to Outlook.com

Microsoft has given its Web Office Apps a makeover. Even if the company has done little or nothing to promote these apps, the truth is that they are capable of carrying out a number of tasks as that their offline counterpart can.

Now, with a flatter design, easier navigation along with other new features, the company has launched to the benefits of its users, and has been announced at its blog, where a Microsoft official said, “ We did introduce some Office Web App updates earlier today. As we’ve said in the past, we’ll continue to bring the Office features that you value most to the Web and this is just one example of that.”

Among a number of changes that have taken place with this update, the most notable one is the new navigation for the OneNote note-taking app.

Apart from this, Microsoft has also changed the design of the top menu for all apps while cleaning up the design of the Ribbon menu. Also, Microsoft has added a switcher in the header UI so as to allow users to move to other online products that they offer.

As for other changes, you can not only polish your reports and papers by adding endnotes and footnotes, you can also search for a function in the ‘Tell me what you want to do” search bar. While this has been rolled out for Microsoft Word and Excel, it will take time before Powerpoint sports this feature as well.

To sum it up, the new design for Office Web Apps looks a lot like the Outlook.com update as well.
