How to Avoid Unwanted Toolbars on your Browser

Technology Article

A common problem that is experienced by computer users these days is the installation of unwanted toolbars on their web browsers. Sometimes, it’s not just one but two or three that are installed at the same time.

Most people do not even know how these toolbars were installed on their browser especially since it turns out to be a service that they don’t need.

Yet the truth is that the reason why these toolbars were installed in the first place is because you, the user, allowed for it to be installed – in being in such a hurry when installing software downloaded from the internet.

Most programs these days, with one example being Java, offer browser add-ons in the form of toolbars and if you aren’t paying attention to these offers and bypassing them, you’ll find yourself with more than one toolbar that you can do without.

So, what’s wrong with installing these free toolbars?

To say the least, it has the annoying quality of slowing down your computer, cluttering up your screen and in some cases, being responsible for spyware and virus infections. Most of all, it’s annoying because you don’t need it and now you have it installed.

So what should one keep in mind when installing freeware or shareware?

It’s important to go through each screen during the installation process as patiently as possible. Read the information on the screen before agreeing to anything, and most of all, look for the word free ‘add-ons’ and ‘toolbar’. Be sure to clear any checkbox which might have anything to do with these toolbars and then proceed further.
